Author's POV.
It was their reception party today. As evening approached, everyone was busy with their own tasks. Natasha, too, was getting ready in the room.
Siddharth came from behind and hugged her, startling her. "Relax, it's me," he said reassuringly.
She breathed a sigh of relief. "You're so strange sometimes," she said, looking at him as he chuckled.
"Oh, am I?" he replied with a sly smile.
"Of course you are,"she said as he giggled.
"You're looking gorgeous, by the way, as always," he said with a grin, causing her to blush a little.
"Thank you," she said, returning his smile.
"Let's go now, shall we?" he asked as she nodded.
He gently grabbed her hand, and they made their way downstairs to where the reception party was being held. However, upon seeing so many people, she stopped midway and looked at him, a bit worried.
"What's wrong, dear?" he asked, concerned.
"There are so many people here, I don't feel comfortable," she said, her tone anxious.
"I understand, but it's okay. You don't have to stay with them all the time," he reassured with a smile. "I'll be with you the whole time, don't worry, hmm?" he said, comforting her as she nodded.
"Well, okay, if you say so," she said, smiling a little as he held her hand tightly, intertwining his fingers with hers.
They were greeted by others, and they took their seats. Everything was going fine; Siddharth was with Natasha all this time, and she was also comfortable with his presence.
Natasha and Siddharth were sitting there, exchanging greetings with others when Natasha's gaze fell upon her old college friend at the party. Instantly, a surge of animosity coursed through her veins. It was the friend who had intentionally ruined her mother's dress during a farewell party. The dress Natasha was wearing for this very occasion. She glared at her former friend with simmering anger.
Siddharth leaned down and whispered in her ear, "What's wrong, wifey?"
She looked at him, flustered by the nickname. "Uh, umm, nothing," she said, trying to brush it off.
He raised an eyebrow. "Don't lie."
"Actually, this girl there... ruined my mother's dress which I wore for a farewell party in my college," she explained.
"Your mom must've scolded you, right?" he said, looking at the girl and back at her.
But she fell silent, which was confusing for Siddharth.
"Hey, what happened?" he asked, concerned.
"My mom died when I was 10 years old," she said, sadness evident in her voice.
He rubbed her back soothingly. "I'm so sorry, I forgot," he said, as she looked at him with a confused frown.
"Forgot? But you came to know this today," she said, catching him off guard.
"Uhhh... I mean... I," he stuttered nervously, not knowing what to say.
"Siddharth?" she called, looking at him in confusion. "How do you know?" she asked.
"N-no, I don't know, really. I just... It just slipped from my tongue," he said with a smile, trying hard to convince her.
However, she stopped talking about that topic and looked away, still not believing him, but choosing to stay silent for now.
Suddenly, an aunt came up, interrupting them both. Siddharth's irritation was evident as the aunt was known for being Khadus (rude) to everyone and also a troublemaker. She was a distant relative of Siddharth's family too.
"God bless you both, new couple," the aunt said with a smile as they both sought her blessings.
The aunt was speaking to them kindly, and everything seemed fine until Natasha stood up in response to Siddharth's mother calling her for something.
As Natasha rose, the cold drink in the aunt's hand slipped and spilled onto her own dress. Despite it being her own fault, the aunt started blaming Natasha, creating a whole scene. Natasha hadn't done anything wrong; it was purely an accident caused by the aunt's own carelessness.
"No, how dare you spill this drink on my brand new dress! Have some shame," the aunt scolded Natasha in a loud voice.
"No, I didn't-" Natasha began, but was cut off by the aunt
"What do you mean you didn't? I saw you! Because of you, the drink fell on me," the aunt started scolding her in front of everyone, which was embarrassing.
Everybody started gossiping, and some even tried to calm Siddharth down. However, the aunt persisted in blaming Natasha.
"I swear to God, if you dare to speak something bad about my wife again, I'll cut off your neck," Siddharth said, clearly threatening the aunt as he started walking towards her slowly.
"Oh, you will? Then do it, let me see how you will. You've forgotten to respect your elders, huh?" the aunt retorted, her anger escalating.
Natasha came in between, grabbing his arm to stop him. "Siddharth, please calm down. Let's not create a big scene here, okay? It's our reception party, we should celebrate this moment. Let's not ruin it, please?" she said softly, trying to calm him. Surprisingly, he calmed down just by looking at her.
"Fine, only because you said," he replied, as everybody breathed a sigh of relief.
The aunt was swiftly dragged away by others, and everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief once again.
The party continued, and everyone enjoyed themselves after the aunt was gone. Dinner was served, and both Natasha and Siddharth joined in. As the party finally ended, they all headed to their respective rooms. Siddharth and Natasha were about to go to their room when Siddharth stopped.
"I'm just coming in a moment, okay? My friends are here," he said, as Natasha nodded and went to their room while Siddharth went to meet his friends.
_____________
Natasha's POV.
I went back to the room as he instructed. However, the words he said to that aunt kept roaming in my mind.
I swear to God, if you dare to speak something bad about my wife again, I'll cut off your neck.
I shook my head, trying to dispel those thoughts, and changed into something comfortable before sitting on the bed, lost in my own thoughts.
An hour passed, and then the room door flew open, revealing Siddharth. I could tell something wasn't right as he stumbled forward, about to fall. I rushed towards him to catch him.
"What happened, Siddharth?" I asked, worried, as I helped him sit on the bed. I could smell alcohol emanating from him.
He was drunk?.
As he sat there, drunk, my heart raced, and worry crawled through my veins. Flashbacks of my drunk dad and how he used to beat me flooded my mind, intensifying my concern.
Before I could say anything, Siddharth pulled me closer and made me sit beside him. I remained silent, feeling nervous and worried about his condition.
"Hmm... are you my wife?" Siddharth said in his drunken voice, touching my cheek. "Of course you are, lovely," he said with a giggle, pulling me into a hug, leaving me completely shocked.
"S-Siddharth?" I stammered, still in shock.
"Yes, my wife?" he replied, still in his drunken state.
"You need rest; you're not in your right mind," I insisted, trying to lay him down on the bed. But he stopped me.
"Why sleep when I have such a beautiful wife beside me to cuddle all night?" he slurred.
I gulped nervously, hoping he wouldn't do anything to hurt me.
"Don't worry, sweety, I won't hurt you," he said with a giggle, hugging me tightly again.
I was surprised by his response; it was as if he had read my mind.
He kissed my cheek, making me blush. "My sweetheart," he said, and I didn't say anything; instead, I just smiled.
"Siddharth, listen to me, we should sleep now, alright?" I said calmly, aware of his state.
"No," he said grumpily, pulling me closer again, which made me chuckle.
"You're acting like a kid," I said with a giggle, and he leaned in closer to me with a smile.
"Kid, huh? You want a kid? We can make one if you want," he said with a smirk, which made me blush so hard.
"You are so cute when you blush," he said with a grin, as I blushed even more.
"Stop now and sleep. First, go and change. These are your new clothes, go," I said, but he shook his head.
"Siddharth, go now," I insisted, but he just grinned.
"Change my clothes," he said, leaning on me.
"W-what?" My cheeks flushed red.
"You heard me," he said, his grin widening.
"N-no, I can't," I said, looking away shyly.
He held my chin, making me look at him. "Why, babe?" he asked with a sly smile.
"B-babe?" I stammered, my eyes widening slightly in shock and my cheeks flushing.
"Yes, you are my babe," he said with a grin, "mine and only mine," he added, making me blush even more.
"Y-you are too much," I said, looking down shyly, as he giggled.
"Now go and change, or else I won't talk to you," I said firmly, and his smile faded.
"Aww, my baby, don't say that," he pouted sadly, and I struggled to hold back from laughing.
He is very cute when he pout.
"Are you going or not?" I said, trying to maintain some semblance of authority.
"Fineeee," he whined, "I'm going." He stood up, but then he held my hand, also dragging me.
"Hey, where are you taking me?" I asked, shocked, as I tried to stop him.
"Drop me till the dressing room," he said casually, and I looked at him in disbelief.
"What!?" I asked, confused, as he kissed my cheek, and I smiled shyly.
"Why do you have to do that?" I said, looking down shyly, as he giggled.
"My wife," he said, kissing my forehead, then went inside the dressing room to change. I sighed and shook my head.
After a few minutes, he came back from the dressing room, looking at me with a grin as I sat on the bed. He was still a bit wobbly, so I went towards him to support him.
He wrapped his arm around my shoulder, and we both walked towards the bed. I was glad that he wasn't so drunk that he would be out of his mind.
I made him sit on the bed, and he looked at me with a smile, indicating he was about to say something, so I remained silent.
"Babyyyyy," he said, pulling me closer and wrapping his arms around me, which caught me off guard.
"What are you doing?" I asked, feeling flustered.
"Ek Kissi do na," he said, leaning towards me with a pout.
"Give me a kiss,"
"N-no, stop," I said, keeping my hand on his chest to stop him, while blushing furiously.
But to my surprise, he pulled me onto his lap, causing me to blush even more.
"At least I can hug my wife," he said, burying his face in my neck, and I looked down shyly.
"S-stop it, Siddharth," I said, blushing, as he looked at me with a smile.
"Why?" he asked, "I'm just loving my wife," he added, making me roll my eyes.
I got up from his lap and tried to lay him on the bed, but he grabbed me and pulled me on top of him.
"Where are you going, darling?" he asked, and I remained silent, blushing like an idiot.
"Nowhere," I said, trying not to blush from his actions.
"Where is my kiss?" he asked again, and I blushed even more.
"Stop asking for a kiss and sleep already," I said, trying to get up, but he held me tighter.
"Not until you give me a kiss," he insisted.
I sighed, "Okay, fine, I will, but only on one condition," I said, feeling a bit playful.
He grinned happily. "Anything for you, darling," he said, and I smiled shyly.
"You will let me do whatever I want to your hair," I said with a grin, and he nodded, still in his drunk state.
"Alright, my baby," he said, cupping my face.
I got happy and got off the bed. I grabbed a rubber band and got back to him, noticing the confusion on his face.
I began tying his hair like a toddler, and he didn't complain. Instead, he just held my waist while babbling, which made me blush.
Although I couldn't understand what he was babbling about, I continued styling his hair with a smile.
"Done," I said with a smile, then I looked at him, which made me laugh at the sight of his hair tied up like a small kid's.
He looked so cute that I couldn't resist gently squeezing his cheeks, which made him giggle.
"My kiss?" he said, pouting and leaning towards me. I stopped him by placing a hand on his chest.
"Wait, one more thing," I said with a grin, and he frowned in confusion as I grabbed my phone.
"Smileee," I said and started clicking his pictures as he smiled.
Sometimes his eyes were closed, sometimes he would look away, or pout sadly that he didn't get his kiss, which made me laugh. I continued to take his pictures while he was babbling.
"Baby?" he said sadly, and I felt a little bad for him, although it also made me laugh.
"Aww, okay okay, I'll give you your kiss," I said, seeing his face light up.
I placed my phone aside and leaned towards him. He also leaned in with his eyes closed. I cupped his face and kissed his cheek as I felt myself blushing. His cheek turned tinted pink from the kiss.
"Hayeee," he exclaimed, putting a hand on his chest and leaning back with his eyes closed.
He leaned so much that he fell, but the mattress was soft, so there wasn't any problem. And guess what? He literally fell asleep.
I giggled softly and pulled a blanket over him. "Good night," I said softly with a smile, as he was already snoring softly.
I lay down beside him and eventually fell asleep too, feeling content and happy.
